I unfortunately had a horrible & disappointed experience with front desk staff Julie, here’s what happened: Email sent: I am reaching out to express my concerns regarding my experience with your receptionist, Julie (the name she provided), during my visit to your office today. I came to your practice as a referral from Court Street Dental to schedule a consultation for wisdom tooth removal. When I arrived, I explained the reason for my visit and was asked to provide my dental insurance information. After showing Julie my insurance card, she immediately stated that she had "never seen this insurance before" and that your office did not accept it. I politely explained that my dental coverage is a High Dental PPO plan through my former employer, Independence Blue Cross. While the insurance card may not be one she recognized, I shared that Court Street Dental initially believed they did not accept my insurance as well. However, after taking the time to call the insurance company and verify my benefits, they confirmed they were in fact in network. I asked Julie if she could also call the insurance provider to verify my coverage. Instead, she stated she would "check the system." After looking briefly on the computer, she responded that the insurance company was not listed in your system. I explained that if no one with my particular plan had previously been seen in your office, it would not necessarily appear in the system, and that the most reliable way to determine participation would be to contact the provider directly using the number on the back of my insurance card. Unfortunately, my concerns were dismissed. I felt that Julie was more interested in ending the conversation than assisting me. Rather than attempting to verify my insurance or offering any alternative solution, she repeatedly indicated that my insurance was not accepted. She then told me that the only way to determine whether my insurance would be accepted was to schedule an appointment. In all of my years navigating healthcare and dental providers, I have never been told that I needed to make an appointment simply to verify insurance participation. This response left me feeling that she was simply trying to discourage me from becoming a patient. What was most disappointing is that I was not seeking routine care. I was referred because I need to have my wisdom teeth removed, a necessary surgical procedure. Choosing the right provider is important, and I expected to be treated with professionalism and empathy. Dr. Gajjar spoke very highly of your practice, which is why I came to your office. Based on that recommendation, I expected a welcoming and patient-centered experience. Unfortunately, that was not what I encountered. I hope you will address this matter with Julie and remind your front desk staff of the importance of customer service, active listening, and making reasonable efforts to assist prospective patients. A simple phone call to verify my insurance could have made all the difference. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I look forward to your response.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Tokar and his entire team. I came to Dr. Tokar after stopping treatment with a previous oral surgeon midway through the process. I felt unheard, uninformed, and extremely anxious about something that was already incredibly scary and deeply tied to my self-confidence. From the very first appointment, Dr. Tokar was completely different. He took the time to truly listen, educate me on my options, and walk me through the entire process from start to finish. He never rushed me, never dismissed my concerns, and always made sure I felt comfortable and informed. That alone made a world of difference. Dr. Tokar performed both bone grafting and implant surgery for my two front teeth. I chose to stay awake during the procedure, and the entire experience went incredibly smoothly. He and his staff continuously checked on me to make sure I was comfortable and pain-free. What truly set him apart was the personal care afterward, Dr. Tokar personally called me the night of my surgery to check in and make sure I was feeling okay. That level of compassion and dedication is rare. Dr. Tokar gave me my smile back, and I will forever be grateful. If you’re looking for an oral surgeon who is not only exceptionally skilled but also kind, patient, and genuinely invested in your well-being, I cannot recommend him highly enough. 10/10.

I had an exceptional experience with Dr. Tokar. It is rare to find a surgeon who balances such high-level expertise with genuine kindness. Dr. Tokar is clearly evidence-based in his approach; he took the time to explain the science and data behind his recommendations, which gave me complete confidence in the procedure. He is extremely knowledgeable but never dismissive. He was very aware of my comfort level throughout the entire visit and treated me with great patience and care. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a surgeon who stays on the cutting edge of the field while remaining compassionate.

Doctors are helpful and good at explaining but the wait times are extremely long. You aren’t allowed to show up late, but you will be made to wait up to hours to be seen. Wish they gave better notice if they were running behind

wonderful dental staff, they made me feel extremely safe and the procedure went well. the clerical staff leaves A LOT to be desired. demanded payment as i’m half out of my mind, still coming down from anesthesia. if you need payment the day of, do so before the procedure, while i’m lucid!!! still have not received antibiotics/pain management for my wisdom teeth extraction.

I came here to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. One thing to note upfront they charge out-of-pocket for X-rays, so I had to go through my insurance and get it done somewhere else, which delayed the process. I also booked my appointment a month in advance to accommodate my work schedule, but a week before, they told me Dr. Romsa would be unavailable on my scheduled date. They offered to put me on a waitlist or pushed me out three more weeks. Thankfully, after speaking more with the receptionist, she helped me find an earlier appointment, which I appreciated. Another thing: they didn’t tell me that my insurance covered everything until I called them myself. That’s definitely something they should let patients know ahead of time. Besides those bumps, the procedure itself went smoothly. I opted for local anesthesia, and it was quick around 45 minutes to an hour with no pain during the extraction. Aftercare-wise, they give you one reusable ice pack, but no facial wrap or syringe for cleaning the area. I’d recommend buying those separately on Amazon if you want to be fully prepared. The nurses were really nice and helpful. They walked me through the aftercare instructions thoroughly, which I appreciated. Overall, aside from the scheduling and insurance issues, the experience was good and the staff was kind.

Read Yelp & Google reviews but thought I could work through the reports of rude front desk personnel in favor of the reviews of seemingly competent oral surgeons. Based on those reviews, I tried to get an appt with Dr. Gefon for my brother (who has some cognitive challenges) whom I care for and am his health proxy. Unfortunately, Dr Gefon does not work on Fridays. My brother was scheduled with Dr. Romsa. My brother was referred for quite a few extractions and was incredibly nervous. He was accompanied by his nurse aide. Dr. Romsa entered and re-entered the room without an introduction or a smile. I asked to speak with him via brother's cell phone to talk about my brother's nervousness in hopes that the Dr. would help to calm him with a warm introduction. I also wanted to know what would be the plan for the day. Dr. Romsa was very rude and dismissive and brusquely demanded to know my brother's medical conditions ("None" as the completed paperwork attested) and to know why he could not speak for himself (from a professional who refused to use any introductory or cordial words). Were we too brown? The "Good" Dr. left the room rudely and abruptly and promptly went to work on the next patient - whereupon I quickly decided that no one who presented themselves with such unprovoked antagonism would be yanking several teeth out of my beloved's head. The office staff were the least of my worries and proved to be ok once you showed them overt kindness first. A waste of a planned day but very glad about our decision to pass on this doctor/ this place. *My brother who doesn't speak much and NEVER speaks ill of people confirmed that decision : "the reason why we didn't "let him take out (my) teeth was that he was very mean". Added note: As answered on check-in paperwork, My brother has no "medical" conditions and is in very good to outstanding medical health. He is kind/ mild-mannered and follows directions when they are clearly provided. The doctor's rudeness and refusal to have a clarifying discussion had nothing to do with concern for patient's safety.
