About Bull City Smiles
Bull City Smiles provides dental care on North Duke Street in the Interstate 85 Corridor area of Durham, North Carolina. Implants are considered by many dentists the most durable way to replace a missing tooth, since the titanium post fuses with the jaw bone over several months and then supports a crown that functions much like a natural tooth. Enough healthy bone is the main prerequisite, and a graft can build that up first if needed.
A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.
Cosmetic treatment is generally the least invasive branch of dentistry, built around changing how teeth look rather than fixing something broken. Whitening and bonding sit at the lighter end; veneers and reshaping involve more planning. Most cosmetic dental insurance excludes this kind of work, since it is elective rather than medically necessary.
Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.
Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in.
General dentistry covers the routine and restorative care most people need most often — examinations, cleanings, fillings, and preventive checks that catch problems while they are still small and inexpensive to treat. Regular attendance, roughly every six months for most patients, is what makes that early-catch approach actually work. These folks, from the office staff to the dentists, are some of the friendliest I've ever met. They take a personal interest in your dental health and treat you with respect. I highly recommend!
Friendly staff and excellent service every time I visit!
I love my dentist Dr. Bolton, I and my daughter go to her been over 16 years.. honest , professional, friendly staff, and reasonable price.
Awesome staff! Great service!
The best dentist office around. I can't say enough about how much I love Dr. Bolton and her staff. They do great dental work and are very understanding and professional.
This is a late review after I've moved away from the area. 5 star for all the hygienists there. I've been several times and every time the hygienists and assistants were very nice. They all cleaned my teeth well. For the dentist, I had to give 3 stars because my cavity filling was way less than ideal. The first few days after getting it, my teeth hurt so bad I had to go back immediately for fixes. And even after fixing, that spot remain very sensitive until now, which is almost 1.5-2 year after getting the filling. I've had several fillings before and never had such things happen. I became their patient right after the new dentist got there so do beware. His name is Dr. Jorge I believe. The google review back then was amazing which was why I chose this office, but those were possibly for the other dentist, not the new one.
Due to a clerical-insurance error on the end of Bull City Smiles I was denied care today because I refused to pay a $300 insurance-related clerical payment prior to receiving care. I was told by phone 1-2 weeks ago that I would be able to receive care and could address the insurance issue later. When I tried to check in for my dental procedure the person at the front desk tried to tell me that “our office manager had tried to reach out to me prior to my appointment.” Did they make contact no. Did they text me to let me know? No. Should I be expected to make a payment on their clerical error in order to get care? No. This is a a nice looking clinical space with kind dentists on the surface but all they care about is collecting their coins (even when the fault lies with them) instead of providing patient care. - a medical professional who also provides patient care
I had a time-sensitive dental emergency and left a message after hours, Katie called me back before they even opened and got me in that same morning. She was incredibly kind, calming, and genuinely focused on helping me. When I arrived, she made me feel at ease and reassured me they would do everything possible to address the issue quickly. Dr. Jorge was just as understanding and walked me through multiple options for treatment. Katie also coordinated a same-day referral to a specialist and clearly explained the costs upfront, which I really appreciated. You can tell this team truly cares about their patients and goes above and beyond in urgent situations. I’m very grateful for their help! Thank you, Katie and Dr. Jorge
Started going to Bull City Smiles in June and it was a great decision. Needed to have a lot of work done(deep cleanings and fillings mainly) and after 5 visits so far I have to admit this is the best Dental practice I have ever been to. Highly recommend this place, my wife will be changing to this location soon.
