Belmont Dental Practice - Best Dental Clinic in Durham introduces you to a new kind of dentist, for both cosmetic and general dentistry.
After growing up in the south of England, I decided to do my dental degree in Newcastle and in 2000 I graduated with merit. I have been working in the North East ever since.
I have worked in general practice since I started dentistry and my path has now led to Belmont, to run my own practice. Here is where I plan to stay, creating the kind of environment that is both fun to work in and upholds that high standards that is expected of a modern dental practice.
I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, as it allows me to employ my natural need to fix things. But the most rewarding thing about the job, is the smile on peoples faces when you improve the appearance of their teeth, or when you fix things that they have previously been told is unfixable!
Over the last few years, I have been increasingly involved in more advanced cosmetic dentistry. Now I am working towards a Diploma in Endodontics.
I look forward to meeting you all and helping you achieve the smile of your dreams
Having qualified from Newcastle dental school in 2002 I have enjoyed being a dentist and I feel very fortunate to have picked a career where I can really help people and build up lasting relationships with so many people.
I recently completed an advanced restorative course to be more involved with more complex crown and bridgework.
We are always striving to increase our knowledge and improve our skills. This is both a personal mission, and a requirement from our professional governing body. We feel that being fully up to date with current practices and equipment is an essential part of modern dentistry.
When I am not busy being a dentist I like to run with my dog and am in training for a marathon! I also a passion for Zumba and Pilates.

Auckland Dental Practice - Best Dental Clinic in Durham is a private dental practice in Bishop Auckland owned by Alison Skipsey and Phil Greenwell since 1996. We are Denplan Excel accredited and this accolade recognises high standards of care and the commitment to continual improvement.
We hope everyone is remaining happy and healthy. We are enjoying seeing our regular patients again, still working under the current restrictions and doing everything we can to look after you all. A big heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful patients for bearing with us during these strange times.
We still have some treatment backlog but are also now getting routine examination appointments into our working day. Please contact us in the usual ways if you require advice, have an enquiry about anything or wish to make an appointment.
Good luck to all those who have now gone back or are going back to school, college or university. For those who are allowed to play contact sports – please remember your mouthguards!
We all hope you remain well and stay safe, sending all our best wishes from all the team at Auckland Dental Practice
We have been back doing face-to-face dentistry now for a few weeks and our thanks go out to everyone for bearing with us. We are working hard to minimise the impact of this unusual time and get back on track.
We currently have to wear a higher level of PPE now for certain treatments in order to look after you properly and keep everyone including us and our staff all safe. It takes time to put on and take off this PPE and then clean the surgery down afterwards. Our profession has always been renowned for cleanliness, but the current levels we are attaining are even higher than they used to be. We are also conforming to social distancing measures in order to keep everyone safe. It should be remembered that there is no evidence of Covid-19 transmission (or any other disease previously) occurring in increased rates in dental staff or dental patients.
We have implemented our new measures and phased return by dealing mainly with emergency and urgent cases and we are now moving towards some routine care. Our ultimate aim is to return to normality. In line with government guidance, all patients have to be assessed for Coronavirus infection and have medical histories updated before their appointment. We will be unable to see anyone with Covid-19 or who is self -isolating. As you can imagine, having to contact and speak to everyone before their appointment, the putting on and taking off all additional PPE and deep cleaning of surgeries takes a lot of time.

How to Choose a Dentist in Durham
Use the ranking as a starting point, then narrow the shortlist based on the kind of care you actually need.
If you want routine or family care
Prioritize review consistency, insurance friendliness, practical hours, and a broad general-dentistry service mix over marketing language alone.
If urgency matters
Confirm same-day capacity, after-hours guidance, and whether the clinic handles urgent restorative work in-house or refers out.
If affordability matters most
Compare financing signals, insurance notes, and the local cost guide. A higher-ranked clinic is not automatically the best value for your specific treatment.
Questions to ask before booking
Do you accept my insurance or offer payment plans?
Are you taking new patients right now?
Do you handle my treatment in-house?
What is the total expected cost before treatment starts?
