About Children's Dentistry of North Dallas Littles

Children's Dentistry of North Dallas Littles provides dental care on Walnut Hill Lane in the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas, Texas. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less.

Children benefit from starting dental visits early, generally by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth coming through, mainly so they become familiar with the setting before any treatment is actually needed. Establishing that routine early tends to make ongoing checkups far less stressful for both child and parent.

Payment and insurance arrangements vary by practice and by treatment, so it is worth asking directly what is covered and what options exist for anything that is not, rather than assuming either way. Getting that clarified before treatment starts avoids surprises once it is underway. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Colven is amazing with my 2 and 4 year old. He is so patient and great with kids that my children actually look forward to going to the dentist! My kids speak fluent Spanish, so having a dentist who is also fluent and able to communicate with them in Spanish really helps put them at ease. We highly recommend this office and are so grateful for the care they provide.

We’ve had a wonderful experience at CDNC (littles)! Everyone is so kind and patient and our visits are always easy and stress-free. They do a great job helping my 3-year-old feel comfortable and at ease. We’ve seen both Dr. Rei and Dr. Colven and have had great experiences with both!

We love Children's Dentistry of North Dallas (Littles)! Dr. Rei and her team are so kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Scheduling is a breeze with many options to fit our schedule, and there is always someone available to answer our questions. We could not ask for a better practice and experience for our toddler.

We are new to the practice with all three of my kids but switched because it came highly recommended by my friend who is a dentist and takes her own kids there. So far we have met Dr. Colven and he is wonderful! He’s very engaging with each age group and also very informative and knowledgeable, taking the time to answer all questions thoroughly. I am so glad we switched to this practice!

First off this is was a second opinion about my concerns for my 2 year olds front teeth, the first place I went to told me to not worry about it till his was older. His teeth kept breaking more and more I was so disappointed! I was referred here by a patient of mine, Dr. Holly was so helpful and educational she understood my concerns and worries and discussed options with me! I could not be happier with how this appointment went! The 45 minute drive was definitely worth it. We have a treatment plan in place! My child definitely comfortable in this office. I can tell by the limited appointment that this office one respects their patients and two does quality work! - The Sandonato family

Everything was seamless, from scheduling to the actual appointment. Dr. Colven and his staff were so friendly and welcoming. They made my son’s first dentist visit such a positive experience and helped him feel comfortable right away. They also took the time to explain everything and walk us through what to expect at future visits. Really glad we found this office!
