About ColumbiaDoctors - Dentistry

ColumbiaDoctors — Dentistry is the dental practice of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, located at 51 West 51st Street in Midtown Manhattan near Rockefeller Center. Operating within one of the country’s leading academic health systems, the practice offers general and specialty dental services to patients in Midtown and across New York City.

General dentistry at the practice includes routine examinations, professional cleanings, X-rays, and restorative dental work. Specialty services including prosthodontics and cosmetic dentistry are available through the affiliated provider team. Dr. McKenzie is among the providers at this location and is noted for thorough communication with patients about their oral health status and treatment options, with a reported focus on cosmetic outcomes including smile improvement.

As part of the Columbia University health system, the practice participates in a broad range of insurance plans typical of major academic medical center networks. Patients who are already within the Columbia health system may benefit from coordinated care records across medical and dental providers. New patients should verify that their specific dental insurance plan covers the ColumbiaDoctors dental location before scheduling.

Patients interacting with the billing department are advised to request an itemized written statement showing all charges and all payments applied to their account if any questions arise. Written requests for billing clarification tend to be processed more effectively than verbal discussions and provide a clear record for dispute resolution with the insurer or the practice.

The office is located in a modern, well-maintained building in central Midtown, near the 50th Street subway station on the 1 train and the 47–50th Streets — Rockefeller Center station serving the B/D/F/M trains. Rockefeller Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Radio City area are within a short walk, making the practice easily accessible from all parts of Manhattan.

Patients in Midtown, the Upper East Side, or elsewhere in New York City who prefer the framework of an academic health system for their dental care can contact ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry at the information on this page to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Artem Krutyansky performed my 4 wisdom teeth extractions surgery. I didn’t feel any pain during or after the surgery, and I had a quick healing process. Dr. Krutyansky is super professional and kind - highly recommend!! 🦷💪

Impossible to schedule an appointment Their system reroutes to some call center. They take the information and say the office will call back. The office never calls back. What happened to this practice?

To JON BISHOP DENTAL STUDENT AT COLUMBIA PRESBYTERIAN Excellent experience. He was professional, courteous, and did a very thorough deep cleaning. He took the time to explain everything and made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. Even as a dental student, he demonstrated outstanding skill and professionalism. Highly recommended. 19 Feb - Billing dpt has handed me over to 3 different reps. Now have 3 different pending billing amounts depending on the statements in the patient portal. My only request has been to a) send a detailed bill INCLUDING payments I have already made and b) send the corrected pending amount to be paid. It seems they are not able to fulfill this request. Due to the persistent billing errors with no comprehensive follow up to resolve them has left me no choice but to submit an official report against ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry with a third party. 17 Feb - Billing dpt again sends a document with erroneous balance. The document does not include the corrected amount already paid, after having called many times and sent messages to highlight the incorrect billing error. Absolutely disappointing. 12 Feb - I have called three times this week. Leaving messages and no one from the billing department has returned my call. The billing department has been an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. They have made continuous billing errors. The remaining balance has been incorrect. All that needs to be done is calculating payments made thus far and identify the correct remaining amount per the out of pocket cost. This simple calculation has yet to be done properly. Incredibly frustrating!

I came to this clinic for a second opinion regarding a complication I had after major oral surgery few years ago, which has been causing me significant physical and emotional distress. I chose a specific surgeon because they were in my insurance's network and I accepted the fact that I had to pay out of pocket for the prosthodontist. I waited for an hour and 15 minutes for what was supposed to be my second appointment with the surgeon here while the billing specialist was on the phone with my insurance, which had apparently denied the claim for my first appointment. After talking to the billing specialist, it looked like I might not be able to continue with the surgeon (who had yet to even discuss the treatment plan with me directly). I had seen the prosthodontist about a week before this appointment and he gave me an outline of my treatment plan, and I agreed to pay for a temporary denture. During this 1 hr plus of me sitting in the waiting area, the surgeon couldn't even be bothered to come out of the office for 10 seconds to say something like "Hey, it looks like we can't continue your treatment here. Good luck/Sorry." No further communication was received from this dr. I am also unable to use the denture that I paid 1200 dollars for, and the clinic has yet to refund me. To top it all, I might have to pay 1000 for the first appointment with the surgeon if my insurance will not agree to cover that visit. Bottom line: I have achieved NOTHING other than finding out that my previous treatment was inadequate, and I might end up almost 3000$ in minus. Do not bother coming here for any major issue, or one that requires your doctors to have some shred of empathy.

Dr. McKenzie is incredibly thoughtful and attentive. He always takes the time to listen to all of my concerns and provides clear and understandable guidance. He never rushes through appointments and makes sure I understand everything that's going on with my oral health. He's cosmetic work is AMAZING and he's given me the smile I've always wanted!

My appointments were prompt. Everyone I met there was polite and friendly. The service was great. The space itself, the building and the various offices on that floor are clean and new and well designed. I felt like I was allowed to ask questions and they were answered thoroughly. They cared about whether I was comfortable during the procedure. I just thought it was all around terrific.
