About Danielle Decou, DDS & Associates

Implant dentistry inside a general practice works when the dentist has completed a formal residency in it rather than a weekend course, and that distinction is worth checking before you book anywhere. Dr. Danielle Decou finished a fifteen-month comprehensive implant residency in Birmingham, Alabama after earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, and her Feu Follet Road practice pairs that surgical training with restorative and cosmetic work. Cases here lean toward tooth replacement: a single missing premolar, a partial denture the patient quietly stopped wearing, teeth failing behind old crowns.

The choice most patients are actually weighing at the consultation is between an implant and a removable partial. A partial is faster and considerably cheaper, comes out at night, and clasps onto the teeth either side of the gap, which loads them over time. An implant is fixed, transmits chewing force straight into bone, and costs several times as much, with a caveat worth hearing before you commit: the total depends on whether the site needs grafting, and a gap left empty for years often does. Timing matters as well, because bone in an unrestored socket narrows fastest during the first year after extraction.

Dr. Decou grew up in Youngsville, studied biology and chemistry at UL Lafayette, and practises with associate dentists, which keeps appointment availability broader than a solo office typically manages. Beyond implants, the practice offers porcelain veneers, crowns and bridges, dentures and partials, and general cosmetic treatment. She is licensed to provide sedation, which matters in two situations: long restorative appointments, and first visits for someone whose dread of the chair has run on long enough to stop them booking at all. Raise it when you call rather than discovering on the day that the option existed.

Feu Follet Road runs through the 70508 side of Lafayette near the Ambassador Caffery corridor, an easy drive from Youngsville and Broussard and a longer haul from the northern parishes. The schedule covers four days: Monday and Thursday from 8am to 4pm, Tuesday from 9am, and an earlier Wednesday finish at 3pm, with Fridays closed. If veneers are on your list, be clear at the consultation about what will and will not change shade. Whitening lifts natural enamel only, while porcelain and existing crowns hold whatever colour they were made in, so the sequence of treatment matters more than most people realise.

She is licensed to provide sedation, which helps during longer appointments and for patients who have avoided dental care for years. Associate dentists broaden availability across a four-day Monday-to-Thursday schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What implant training does Dr. Decou have?
She completed a fifteen-month comprehensive implant residency in Birmingham, Alabama after earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. That is formal post-graduate training rather than a short continuing-education course, and asking about it is reasonable at any general practice offering implants. She also holds advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, dentures and partials, which covers the restorative half of implant treatment.
Implant or removable partial denture for one missing tooth?
A partial is faster and much less expensive, but it comes out at night and clasps onto the teeth either side, loading them over the years. An implant is fixed, transmits chewing force into the bone, and costs several times more. The honest caveat is that implant totals vary case by case: a site left empty for years often needs grafting first, which adds both expense and several months.
Will whitening make my veneers and crowns match?
No. Whitening lifts the shade of natural enamel only. Porcelain veneers, crowns and composite fillings keep whatever colour they were made in and will not change with a whitening gel. If you plan to do both, whiten first, let the shade settle for a couple of weeks, then have the new restorations matched to that final result. Doing it the other way round leaves mismatched teeth and a remake bill.

Just let me say Im terrified of any dentist/offices. I have really bad anxiety issues not only with dentist offices but all doctor’s offices. The main reason my teeth were in such bad shape. I finally made the decision it was time to do something about them. Let me make this clear ~ I’m not talking about a few cavities and possibly a couple of root canals either! So I started asking around my family, friends and doing my own research on dentist/cosmetic dentists. I’d start looking and back out. This went on a couple of weeks until one night while looking I came upon Dr. Danielle Decou Dentist on a Google search. I started out by looking where she was located in Lafayette and the type of dental work she did. I then started reading all her reviews. In a matter of five minutes I told myself she is the one. No other reviews and no other dentist that people recommend grabbed me like Dr. Danielle’s did! I took the leap of faith! The BEST leap of faith for me in a long time. I called a made appointment, Went in and told her all about why my teeth were so bad. She ask me what I was wanting. My first words were absolutely no dentures and not a full mouth of implants. Dr. Danielle said let me take a look, then I’ll tell you your options on what I think and what each option will cost. I looked at options / cost ~ I picked one and told her if you agree this will work and if you do “sedation and I’m talking flat out sedation” let’s get in on your books! My first appt was in July 2026, 2nd appt today Aug11, 2026 and I go back in Sept. she did save what she could, pulled some and 4 implants. She is very honest. She is in this for her patients not for herself. If you or anyone is in need of a dentist, please do yourself a favor. Book a consultation and you can thank me later! The BEST dentist and an awesome staff on board at Dr Daniel Decou office in Lafayette La.

I haven’t been to the dentist since Covid. I was kind of embarrassed and they made me feel comfortable and I was in no pain whatsoever. I wish I would’ve kept on going after Covid. I learned my lesson.

By far the best dentist and staff that I have ever had dealings with. They took exceptional care or my handicapped son who was very difficult to treat. They were the most caring and professional people and I would recommend them for all your dental needs.

It’s always a pleasant experience. Retiring after 28 years in the dental field I know what a great staff and well run office looks like and Dr Decou and her staff are exactly that. Very professional, friendly, and caring. Such a wonderful atmosphere and they feel like family.

Most people do not like going to the dentist, but this experience is different. The environment is so relaxing and calming from the time you walk in the door. Danielle and staff are very friendly and professional at all times, and they make you feel comfortable. I tell my friends and family that my dentist is like going to the spa...

I LOVE this office and this team 🙏🏻 I went in there in dire need of help after getting the run-around from 3 other facilities in town. They were able to see me quickly, evaluate what needed to be done, and worked with me to get a payment plan implemented. The level of professionalism, compassion and skill is over the top of the line. My procedure went smoothly and I truly appreciate the level of person-ability and comfort they were so kind and gracious in showing. My daughter referred Dr. Decou’s office to me, and I whole-heartedly refer everyone there too.

I had a great experience at my recent dental appointment. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment I arrived. They took their time to walk me through each step of the visit, which made the whole experience very comfortable and informative. The provider was very thorough and did an excellent job explaining everything. She reviewed my dental images with me, showed me exactly what she was seeing, and made sure I understood my overall dental health. What I appreciated most was that she also took the time to address an issue I’ve been wanting to fix for years. Not only did she acknowledge it, but she also provided a plan to correct it in addition to my routine dental care. Overall, it was a very positive and professional experience. I’m looking forward to continuing my treatment with this team.
