About Farrar Family Dentistry

Based on North Carolina 751 in Durham, North Carolina, Farrar Family Dentistry is a dental practice serving the area. A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root, not just the crown — a small titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and, once it has integrated over a period of months, a replacement tooth is attached to it. It is generally the most durable option for a single missing tooth or several.

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Cosmetic dentistry covers treatment aimed primarily at appearance — whitening, veneers, bonding, and reshaping among the more common options — for patients who are less concerned with a problem that hurts than with how their smile looks day to day. The right combination depends on what specifically you would like to change.

Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.

Professional teeth whitening uses a peroxide-based gel, applied under supervision at a strength stronger than anything sold over the counter, to lift years of staining from coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. It works on natural enamel only — existing crowns, veneers, and fillings keep whatever shade they were made in.

A family dental practice sees a range of ages under one roof, which for most households means fewer separate appointments across different offices. It typically covers routine checkups and restorative treatment for both children and adults, with referrals out for anything requiring specialist training. You can reach Farrar Family Dentistry through this page to ask a question, check current availability, or request an appointment.

Used to love coming here… until a change in staffing. now it’s extremely hard to get an appointment, even when trying to schedule months in advance. The new front desk person is not very helpful and was on a personal phone call the entire time I was waiting in the waiting room for my appointment.

Dr. Farrar has been so great for me as someone who has anxiety about dentists and a bad checkup. Dr. Farrar will talk you through what she’s doing during a filling which helps me not be too nervous. She’s offered me back if things weren’t done quite right (fillings). I’ve also brought the wrong payment before and been able to work with receptionists to change payments. They will help you figure out the costs for each treatment.

They are just ok here. The doctor doesn’t really listen to you or address your concerns. It is very hard to get an appointment even if you are an established patient. They do not check the cost of your procedure before you book so it is hard to plan accordingly. However, they are really nice at the front desk, the office is clean, and the location is good. Overall, there are much better offices in the area.

Dr. Farrar is beyond fantastic. I came here after a not-so-great experience at another dentist. Dr. Farrar and her staff are kind and patient, even with an anxious dental patient like myself. She really puts you at ease without feeling like you're being infantilized. I love how she listened to my concerns, didn't dismiss them, and did everything she could to make sure I was comfortable while I was there. Can't recommend Farrar Family Dentistry enough!

I went to Dr. Farrar for the first time last week. I'm a transplant to this area and was very wary about finding a new dentist because I have high anxiety at any dentist's office. I was thrilled with my first-time experience. Bri (the hygienist) was thorough and gentle and I had no problem with the cleaning. Dr. Farrar was extremely personable and professional. I had previously gone to another dentist who recommended a root canal and crown. I was uncomfortable with his demeanor and pushiness so I went to Dr. Farrar for a second opinion. She said she saw no need for either. I hate to say it, but from family and friends, it seems fairly hard to find an honest dentist who won't recommend unnecessary work. Needless to say, I am thrilled with Dr. Farrar and her staff and am happy to have someone I feel totally comfortable with for my future visits.

The staff here are so friendly and go out of their way to help you. Dr. Farrar did an amazing job on my crown. She is very meticulous about her work and made certain that it was comfortable for me. I would recommend this office for any of your dental needs.

Dr Farrar, the front desk and her staff are Amazing, Honest, Kind and all around Top Notch!! Words for how wonderful this place is can not even be typed here. They have only your best interest at heart! I came in needing 4 root canals, big money folks...Dr. Farrar took a look at my x rays and said she could not and would not do them because she could not see where I needed them. She didn't want to do anything until she talked to my dentist so they both were on the same page. Some dentist know the tooth will need this soon and they like to just get it out of the way sort of as a preventive measure.( keep in mind I had a pretty extensive dental plan a head of me) Dr F was very apologetic that I drove all that way only to turn around and go home. I was happy to go home. This office turned down four root canals that day, she could have numbed me up and went to work, no questions asked But, she didn't. for this I am forever grateful . It is not often that you find a office that takes the time to check and double check to be sure whats being done is truly what needs to be done. I have been blessed to find not only this office, but another office that cares about me and my needs. I was not just another dental plan, or a quick way to make some money, to them I was a person and I was treated as such. If you need work, Dr. Farrar and her staff will take amazing care of you, you will be in good hands. Check them out, they are worth the drive.
