About Fort Greene Dental

Fort Greene Dental provides dental care on Saint James Place in Brooklyn, New York. Dentures replace some or all of the natural teeth in a jaw with a removable appliance, custom-fitted to the mouth. A full denture replaces every tooth; a partial fills gaps where some natural teeth remain. Because the jaw bone reshapes over time, dentures typically need adjusting or remaking periodically.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Fort Greene Dental located in Brooklyn?
Fort Greene Dental is on Saint James Place in Brooklyn, New York (11238).
What days is Fort Greene Dental open?
Fort Greene Dental is open Monday through Saturday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Fort Greene Dental offer?
Listed services at Fort Greene Dental include Dentures. The full list is shown on this page.
How long does it take to get used to new dentures?
Several weeks is typical, and speech and eating usually feel awkward at first. Sore spots in the early stage are common and are adjusted rather than endured — they are not something to put up with.
Can dentures be supported by implants?
Yes, and it is a common solution for a lower denture that will not stay put. Implants anchor the denture so it does not move while eating or speaking, which is the most frequent complaint about conventional lower dentures.
How can I look after my teeth between appointments?
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between the teeth daily covers most of it. Limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount consumed.

I've had tooth pain for 4 years - I have seen a few dentist but Dr. Grannum was by far the best. He was patient and helped develop a plan for me. His office is always kind and courteous. Could not recommend this practice enough - they were more than fair and accommodating.

Dr Grannum and his team are world class. Last year (2021) I had a new implant and cleaning. On every visit I found the office to be organized, transparent and very caring. The practice is clean and very organized as far as Covid protocols are concerned. I have highly recommended Dr Grannum to all my friends and family. He is extremely experienced (his awards and certifications are displayed in the waiting room), and treats his staff with the highest respect.
