About Garden Dental Arts

Garden Dental Arts sits on Clinton Avenue in Clinton Hill, the brownstone-belt neighborhood between Fort Greene and Bedford-Stuyvesant where Pratt Institute anchors a residential community of artists, longtime homeowners, and the families that've kept the historic blocks stable across decades. The practice handles general and cosmetic dentistry — routine restorative work alongside aesthetic services from the same office, fitting the patient base that values both functional and visible-tooth quality.

Cavity work covers the routine general-dentistry range. The team uses tooth-colored composite as the default material, with single-surface and multi-surface fillings, replacement work when older restorations have failed, and the call between filling and crown when more tooth structure has been lost. Beyond fillings, services include cleanings, exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, extractions, gum-disease screening, and the cosmetic side — porcelain veneers, in-office and at-home whitening, and aesthetic crowns. The team will discuss whether visible front-tooth work should combine structural repair with cosmetic improvement when both are clinically reasonable.

If you've been postponing front-tooth work because you weren't sure whether to combine the fix with cosmetic improvement, a practice that handles both lets you plan it as one project.

Patients searching for routine dental care in Brooklyn, family dentist in Brooklyn, or general dentistry in Brooklyn, NY who live in Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, or Bedford-Stuyvesant often choose practices that combine general and cosmetic services for the planning convenience. Garden Dental Arts fits that combined-services model. The new-patient exam covers comprehensive X-rays, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan walkthrough before any restorative or cosmetic work is scheduled. For Clinton Hill and Fort Greene residents picking a regular dental practice that handles both routine and aesthetic work, this Clinton Avenue office is a reasonable first appointment. Insurance acceptance, hours, and current new-patient availability shift across the year, so a phone call before booking is the most reliable way to confirm what's in-network and which slots open up this week.

Frequently Asked Questions

What days is Garden Dental Arts open?
Garden Dental Arts is open Monday through Saturday. Contact the practice through this page to confirm current appointment times before travelling.
What services does Garden Dental Arts offer?

Does getting a crown hurt?
Preparing the tooth is done under local anaesthetic, so the appointment itself should not be painful. Some tenderness and temperature sensitivity in the following days is normal, particularly if the tooth had a lot of work done.
What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?
A crown covers the entire tooth and is a restorative treatment for a tooth that is structurally compromised. A veneer covers only the front surface and is primarily cosmetic. Which one applies depends on how much sound tooth is left.
Is a bridge or an implant better for a missing tooth?
They solve the same problem differently. A bridge is quicker and does not involve surgery, but it requires preparing the neighbouring teeth. An implant stands alone without altering adjacent teeth and preserves bone, though it takes longer and needs enough bone to place it.

The Garden Dental Arts team, Dr. Ifill in particular, represents the art of human centered healthcare. Dr. Ifill is the rare blend of high EQ, meticulousness, accessible expertise and dedication to craft. She uses visualization to walk you through updates/procedures. She provides you with options and articulates the upside/downside and never upsells. She was even responsive after hours on an unexpected matter. My interactions at the office are devoid of condescension, presumption, or impatience. The team is genuinely invested in your wellness and has created a space that feels safe and restorative. I leave each visit feeling cared for and reciprocating that care throughout my day. Dr. Ifill, congrats on what you’ve built and thanks to the entire team!

Everyone at this practice is so great - it’s the best dental experience I’ve ever had. Each person is really thoughtful in their communication, clear, thorough, warm and extremely competent and skilled. I was recommended by a friend to Dr Ifill and it’s such a pleasure to be her patient. I can tell I’m in such trustworthy hands and care with her. She’s taken care to check things no other dentist has ever checked (my broader mouth / tongue / throat as a whole system and not just looking at my teeth in a silo) and is thoughtful in helping me up my compliance with all the preventative dental care that can fall through the cracks so I can take better care of myself too.

I met with the dental hygienist Olivia and she gave me a lot of tips on how to keep my teeth healthy that I never knew about. We discussed my diet, sleep and even how I store my oral care products. Now I know what ingredients to look for in my products. You can tell they really have a passion for keeping their patients healthy. Thank you so much

This was a far kinder, more thorough and more technologically advanced dental experience than I've been used to. I'm very impressed!

I've been a patient at Garden Dental Arts for over a year now and I recommend them to everyone! Dr. Ifill is gentle and thorough, in both her exam and explanations. I never feel that I'm being upsold or pressured into procedures. They provide by far the most comprehensive dental care I've ever experienced, in the nicest environment with the nicest people. Everyone, from the front desk staff to the hygienists, is an absolute gem. Thank god there are still some small business practices out there!

I have been a patient at GDA for going on two years. Dr. Ifill and her whole team are excellent. From reception to hygienist and all the way up to Dr. Ifill, the entire office goes out of their way to make sure you receive the best care. Cannot recommend highly enough!

My family and I have been patients of Dr. Ifill at Garden Dental Arts for years, and we regularly recommend her to others. Her calm approach and thorough exams are comforting, and the staff are always professional and friendly. The dental hygienist offers helpful education after each visit. I especially suggest Dr. Ifill to those anxious about dentists, thanks to her soothing presence. If you need a reliable dentist with a great team, Garden Dental Arts is an excellent choice.

Could not recommend this business more! I followed my spouse to this practice after a change in insurance a few years a go. The office bills your insurance even if you are out of network, and that really helps. They give you estimates a head of time so you know the cost in advance. I have a challenging physicality for dentists (very small mouth) and the staff and dentist have always been so helpful in getting me through procedures that can be uncomfortable, like back of the mouth. Moreover, this structure made it very hard to fit the right crown on my tooth, which was a re-do from another dentist, and the practice owner had numerous crowns made until the right fit was found, with no extra charge to me. She worked with the lab, who made the crown, tirelessly, to make sure I was comfortable. The best thing about this practice are the people working there. The energy is always good, and the people working there, from the front desk to the technicians and hygienists are always so attentive, helpful and kind. One thing I noticed is that almost everyone sings in this office, all the time with the music in the background, that tells me they are comfortable, happy and content in their job and that makes me happy to come, it's such a rarity to see people staying in one job because they are treated well, clearly!

Another dishonest practice - read the other 1 star reviews. I don’t know how this place has the good ratings it does. We were quoted half of what our care ended up costing in the end. Then we were told there were “unexpected” charges. I’m sorry, but when unexpected charges end up being double what you originally quote, that is unacceptable. When we, as the patient, ask up front “what will this cost,” and we are given a number that we agree on, that is what we expect. And when we, as patients, say, “we do not want any services or care that is not covered, or we don’t know what the cost will be” that means - don’t go ahead and do the work and then bill us for it months later. On top of it, the “care” I received was not good, the dentist was more concerned and focused with selling me Invisalign and other expensive products rather than providing healthcare. They made me sit through a whole sales pitch, and my teeth are completely straight with just a slight deviation of my lower front teeth. I’ve been told by other dentists my entire life that my teeth seem like I’ve had braces growing up because of how straight they are.. just to give background on the fact that I did not need any expensive, cosmetic, brand name products… healthcare is what I was expecting, not a sales pitch and then to be gauged.
