About iSmile Dental Nassau Ave: Emergency and Cosmetic

iSmile Dental Nassau Ave: Emergency and Cosmetic provides dental care on Nassau Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, length, or colour, most often used to address chips, gaps, or discoloration that whitening alone cannot fix. Traditional veneers require a small amount of enamel to be removed, which makes the change permanent.

Emergency dental care covers sudden problems that will not wait for a routine appointment — severe pain, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, swelling, or a lost filling that leaves a tooth exposed. Same-day or urgent appointments are the point of an emergency service, rather than the standard multi-week booking window.

A mouth guard protects the teeth during sport or, in a night guard form, from the effects of grinding during sleep. A custom-fitted guard, made from a mould of your own teeth, stays in place and protects considerably better than a generic store-bought version.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Do I need a custom mouth guard or is a store-bought one fine?

What is the difference between veneers and crowns?
A veneer covers the front surface of a tooth and is mainly cosmetic. A crown encases the whole tooth and is used when the tooth is structurally weakened. How much sound tooth remains usually decides which is appropriate.
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers commonly last a decade or more with reasonable care. They can chip or debond, and the tooth underneath still needs protecting from decay and gum disease as normal.

The tech was clearly inexperienced taking XRays. The Doc was BRUTAL with my teeth that are generally fine and have no cavities. It had only been a year since my last cleaning and I have never had my gums so bruised. She told me to floss more which, is fair. But two things can be true, she was not careful or gentle and I came away with bruising.

I had a dental issue come up right before a trip, and iSmile was incredible. They fit me in same day on a Sunday, already had all my notes ready, and made the entire experience stress-free. The doctor was kind and reassuring, the appointment was fast, and everything ran right on time. Truly above-and-beyond care — I’m so grateful.

I’ve been here twice with two different dentists and different hygienists and everyone has always been great! Everyone is super friendly, the equipment seems very new and they don’t push things on you that you don’t actually need. I went to a different place and they told me I had 5 cavities (I’ve had 2 in my life) and I came here for a second opinion and they did X-rays and a check and I don’t have any. They are also always very prompt and on time to my appointments.

I recently visited my dentist for a routine check-up and cleaning, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From the moment I walked into the office, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who made check-in quick and easy. The waiting area was clean, quiet, and comfortable, which helped ease any nerves I had. The dental hygienist was professional and gentle during the cleaning, explaining each step and ensuring I was comfortable throughout the process. When the dentist came in for the examination, they were thorough and took the time to answer all my questions about oral health and preventative care.
