About Just Kids Dental

Just Kids Dental is a dental practice on North Central Expressway in the North Dallas area of Dallas, Texas. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. This page has the practice's contact details and full service list. What does a paediatric dentist do differently?
They complete additional training focused on children — how teeth develop, how to manage anxiety and behaviour in the chair, and conditions specific to young patients. The practical difference is usually as much about handling the visit as the treatment itself.
When do children start losing baby teeth?
Usually from around age six, continuing until roughly age twelve, though the timing varies widely between children. Adult molars also come through at the back around age six without any baby tooth falling out first.
Why do dentists take X-rays?
Decay between teeth and problems below the gumline are invisible to the naked eye, so X-rays are what reveal them. Modern digital images use a low dose and are taken only when clinically justified.

Easy to get in. Everyone is super kind! Great place to go! My oldest has been going here for years and my youngest just started!

The staff is super sweet and kind, it could be because we’re new to the office that i find myself constantly having to fill out forms at every visit. Our appointments are always on time minimal to no waiting , availability is perfection. My interactions with the dr is where it can hinder the overall experience. she’s nice but sometimes comes across condescending and or judgmental and I don’t think it’s on purpose but every visit I leave feeling annoyed about comments made during the visit.

My son had a prior experience at a different location and was traumatized to come to the dentist. Today he had to get a broke crown removed and replaced and the dentist and staff were so gentle, patient and kind with him. I love this location and will continue to bring him back until he’s too old to come! Thank you for having an amazing staff, from check in to check out everyone was incredible and kind! I appreciate you for making both my son and I feel safe and taken care of! Thank you!

…Finally had the time to process everything that occurred during my children’s appointments. First, I have 13 years of professional experience that allowed me to clearly recognize the issues that took place during these visits, even though I did not disclose my background to the staff. My first concern is that all of my children’s charts listed Dr. King as their established dentist, yet not once during the six appointment confirmations was I informed she was no longer practicing there. I only discovered this after noticing another doctor and asking the staff myself. That lack of communication was extremely disappointing. My second concern involved Dr. Patel. After asking my eldest child if she was in pain and hearing her clearly answer “no,” Dr. Patel continued implying she should be in pain. She then pointed to a “shadow” on a grainy 2D X-ray and stated my child needed endodontic treatment while also discussing orthodontic referrals and possible extractions in the same conversation. As a pediatric dentist and not an endodontic specialist, the appropriate response should have been a referral for evaluation not a definitive diagnosis. I also found it inappropriate to repeatedly push the idea of pain onto a 9 year old after she denied having any. Dr. Patel also recommended sealants on every tooth. When I explained that I personally do not believe in unnecessary sealants, she laughed, which I found dismissive and unprofessional. My third concern involved the X-rays. The machine malfunctioned multiple times, and I later noticed Dr. Patel was reviewing outdated X-rays from 2025 while attempting to diagnose a cavity that Dr. King and I had already discussed as a chip. Once I questioned the outdated imaging, it became obvious the mistake had just been realized. By the end of the visit, the tension in the room was obvious and the interaction felt rushed and forced far below the level of care I expected from a pediatric office. Overall, I left extremely disappointed. I do not tolerate providers who appear to over diagnose or aggressively recommend treatment in ways that feel production driven rather than patient focused. I expected honesty, transparency, and proper diagnostic standards, and unfortunately this experience failed to meet those expectations.

We had a great experience at Just Kids Dental. My 2 year old son had never been to a dentist before but was struggling with tooth pain before he went in. Dr King and Ms Ashley were super knowledgeable and helpful, and they were even able to distract him enough to get his teeth cleaned and x rays taken! They are clearly familiar with working with young children and have good tools (iPads, toys, etc) to support the environment. I would definitely recommend this for any parent of young children.

Extremely professional & friendly environment! I took one child in for an appointment and the front desk reps were able to get my second child included in an expedient manner! Dr. King was pleasant, caring & informative! Destiny was amazing, friendly, personable yet able to multi task at record speed! Thanks Team for your service!!
