About Murray Fryd DDS

Murray Fryd DDS operates on 5th Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Sedation dentistry uses inhaled, oral, or intravenous options to help patients relax through treatment, ranging from nitrous oxide for mild anxiety through to deeper sedation for longer or more involved procedures. It is commonly used for patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to fear.

Routine attendance, roughly every six months for most people, is what actually keeps small problems small. A lot of decay and gum disease develops without any pain in its early stages, which is why regular checkups matter even when nothing seems to be wrong, rather than only booking an appointment once something hurts.

A first appointment at a new practice typically covers a full examination, a review of your dental and medical history, and a professional cleaning, with X-rays if you do not have recent ones. It is also a reasonable time to raise any longer-term concerns, cosmetic or otherwise, so they can be factored into a plan going forward.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost. Is sedation dentistry safe?
It is considered safe when properly assessed and monitored, which is why your medical history and current medications matter beforehand. Being open about those is the main thing that keeps it safe.
Will I be unconscious under dental sedation?
Usually not. Most dental sedation leaves you conscious but deeply relaxed, often with little memory of the procedure afterward. General anaesthesia, where you are fully unconscious, is reserved for specific circumstances.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

I have been coming to this dentist for years now. He always does a good job.not super chatty but polite and quick. He doesn’t rush he just does what he needs to do and you go about your day. Very good very efficient. Also my girl Yaritza at the front desk is literally the best. She helped me with everything I needed to get care credit to cover my expenses and is always a happy little ray of sunshine whenever I call for help or appointments. I would definitely recommend this place.

I came to this clinic over the summer for a root canal. The procedure was pretty smooth and he did an ok job. My issue was with how dishonest they were when it came to my "copay". After speaking with the dentist about the procedure, he mentioned their would be a co pay on my part, so I asked Yaritza who works the front desk, I asked about how much does my insurance usually charge patients when it comes to co pays and she said between $350 and $600. So according to her we were just waiting for my insurance to post what my actual co payment was going to be while the procedure was being done. After a few weeks she hands me an appointment card with my co pay at the bottom. I decided to call my insurance to confirm which honestly i should of did from the beginning and when i spoke to them they said their was no co payment on my behalf and i did not have to pay anything out of pocket. So i called Yaritza and explained what they told me and that i'm going to need proof that my insurance is charging me a co pay. She said she would email it to me, which she never did and i called the insurance back to confirm and someone from member services even called the clinic as a courtesy so we can see what that charge was about when confronted they hung up the phone on us. Long story short after all that Yaritza finally tells me the co pay was because the type of crown my insurance pays for, they do not do at their location and the one that they do is considered cosmetic, which was very dishonest of their part and should of been told to me when i originally asked that way i had the option to go elsewhere but i guess thats their game. I confronted her about it over the phone, she spoke a lot of non sense only to say i was right and that she was going to see what she can do about it, which she did nothing. To find another dentist to finish the root canal was going to be difficult so i got stuck with a $600 bill. I will say he is a decent dentist and I do appreciate them helping me with my issue but they ran game on me and thats not cool. If you choose to come to this dentist make sure you triple check anything they bill or charge you.

What a pleasant Experience. As I enter Fryd office i was pleasantly greeted by Yaritza. She was very welcoming putting that put my mind at ease, I dislike going to the dentist no more. Dr Fryd is patient and listen to all my concerns, explaining everything to me about my oral surgery. Job well done now I have a million dollar smile. Highly recommend this office. Natalie G
