About Smile Safari Pediatric Dentistry

Smile Safari Pediatric Dentistry operates on Abrams Road in the Northeast Dallas area of Dallas, Texas. Pediatric dental care is built around treating children specifically — dentists with additional training in child development and behaviour management, and offices designed to make a first visit unintimidating. Guidance generally points to a child's first dental visit around age one or within six months of the first tooth.

Day-to-day oral health still comes down to the basics between visits — brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between the teeth, and limiting how often sugary food and drink appear through the day matters more than the total amount eaten at once. Regular professional care is what catches whatever those habits do not.

Digital X-rays are a routine part of dental care because they show what a visual exam alone cannot — decay forming between teeth, bone loss below the gumline, and how developing adult teeth are positioned in children. They use a low radiation dose and are taken on a schedule matched to individual risk rather than at every single visit.

Left untreated, small dental problems tend not to stay small. A minor cavity that would have been a straightforward filling can progress to needing root canal treatment and a crown, and early gum inflammation that would have reversed with a good cleaning can progress toward bone loss around the teeth. Catching things early is generally the difference in both effort and cost.

Continuity matters in dental care — seeing the same practice over time means your history, X-rays, and any patterns in your oral health are already on file, rather than starting from scratch at each visit. That familiarity is part of what a regular dental home offers beyond any single appointment.

Dental anxiety is common, and most practices are used to working with nervous patients — through clear explanations of what is about to happen, a slower pace where needed, and sedation options for patients who want them. Avoiding the dentist out of anxiety tends to make eventual treatment more involved, not less. What services does Smile Safari Pediatric Dentistry offer?

Are dental X-rays safe for children?
Modern digital X-rays use a very low dose and are taken only when there is a clinical reason. They show decay between teeth and problems with developing adult teeth that cannot be seen by looking.
When do children start losing baby teeth?
Usually from around age six, continuing until roughly age twelve, though the timing varies widely between children. Adult molars also come through at the back around age six without any baby tooth falling out first.
What causes bad breath and can a dentist help?
Persistent bad breath most often comes from bacteria on the tongue and around the gumline, and gum disease is a frequent underlying cause. Because it is usually oral in origin, a dental examination is a sensible first step.

I was a little disappointed with my visit. This office came highly recommended, and after looking at the website, I expected a caring and attentive doctor. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and welcoming, and they were the highlight of the visit. However, I did not have a positive experience with the doctor. He gave only a vague introduction, seemed uninterested in my children’s care, said only a couple of words during the appointment, and then walked away. I left feeling like our concerns weren’t addressed. I also felt judged and dismissed during the visit. I had just come from the gym and was still wearing my workout clothes, and I couldn’t help but wonder if my appearance or possibly even my race affected the way I was treated. I can’t know the reason, but the interaction left me feeling unwelcome and unheard. Although this office is much closer to home, I’ve decided to switch back to another practice because I’d rather drive farther to receive better care, communication, and compassion. I would suggest adding another doctor or a hygienist to help with the workload if the doctor is too busy. It may allow patients to receive the attention and care they expect.

We love Smile Safari and have had nothing but great experiences so far. The dental hygienists are very friendly and show the kids everything they are doing before hand and Dr. Shanadi has always been kind. I just took my youngest for their first ever visit and there were no tears!

My daughter LOVES going to the dentist thanks to Smile Safari! The staff team is so kind, patient, and accommodating. I love how our hygienist Liz carefully explained everything to my girl getting her first x-ray today so she wasn’t scared. Facility is also always clean and welcoming. Highly recommend!!

Wow! I loved this dentist! Just yesterday I had my first appointment with my little girl who has autism and gets easily frustrated with new experiences! I had no problems at all because from the waiting room to inside the center they have several learning and entertainment games for children, and the staff and the doctor were super kind, attentive, and patient with my little one. I am more than grateful and thank you so much for such a relaxing and blessed experience! 🤗🙌🥰

Smile Safari is wonderful and they take such great care of my kids. Easy to work with, I always speak with a person on the phone, and their financing plan is almost too good to be true. We so appreciate the kindness and expertise.

If you’re looking for a dental team that truly partners with you in your child’s oral health, this is the place. The staff is compassionate, patient, and genuinely invested in educating families, not just getting you in and out. Dr. Shanadi is highly knowledgeable and does excellent, efficient work while still taking the time to ensure you feel informed and comfortable with every step. We drive an hour for our kids to be seen here, which says everything about the level of care they provide. We’re incredibly grateful to have found this team. Thank you to Dr. Shanadi and the entire staff for the care you give our family.

Dr. Shanadi and the team were wonderful! Our daughter (2.5 yo) had her first dentist visit here. She gets anxious with new doctors, but the atmosphere and demeanor of the staff helped put all of us at ease. The staff are kind and patient, informative and answered all of our questions. We will definitely keep using this service!
