About The Brooklyn Dental Center

The Brooklyn Dental Center runs a general practice on Flatbush Avenue, on the same corridor as several other long-standing Brooklyn dental offices. The patient base is the surrounding Flatbush community — Caribbean, African American, and longtime resident households who anchor multi-decade dental relationships with the practice's regular dentist rather than rotating through chain offices for one-off care.

Routine fillings are one of the regular visit types. The team uses tooth-colored composite as the default for most cases, handling single-surface and multi-surface restorations, replacement fillings when older work has failed, and the structural call between filling and crown when more tooth material has been lost. Beyond fillings, services include cleanings and exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, extractions, gum-disease screening, teeth whitening, and emergency dental care. They'll walk through cost-tier options when multiple treatment paths are clinically reasonable, since insurance coverage and out-of-pocket capacity vary widely across the Flatbush patient mix.

If you've been postponing recall visits because you weren't sure what the appointment would actually cost, a comprehensive new-patient exam here usually combines the diagnostic with the price discussion in one visit.

Patients searching for long-time family dentist in Brooklyn, NY, family dentist in Brooklyn, or general dentistry in Brooklyn, NY who live in Flatbush, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, or East Flatbush often choose Flatbush Avenue practices for the central residential location and the routine availability. The Brooklyn Dental Center fits that pattern. The new-patient exam combines comprehensive X-rays, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan walkthrough into a single first visit. For central Brooklyn families picking a regular general dental practice within walking or bus distance of home, this Flatbush Avenue office is a reasonable place to anchor regular care across multiple seasons of recall scheduling. Bringing prior X-rays and treatment records from a previous dentist usually saves a redundant imaging round at the new-patient exam and gives the team baseline context to compare against current findings.

This dental office stands out for its exceptional professionalism, friendliness, and welcoming atmosphere. If you have previously visited other dental practices, you will immediately perceive the distinct difference here. If you are considering changing your dental provider based on these reviews, I highly recommend this office. The receptionist is exceptionally professional and highly communicative. Patients are consistently informed and reminded of their appointments, which is particularly beneficial for individuals who manage demanding work and personal commitments. The reminders facilitate the scheduling of appointments. In summary, I wholeheartedly endorse this dental office, awarding it a perfect score of 10 out of 10. The service provided is exceptional, and I am thoroughly satisfied with my experience.

I originally booked a same-day appointment here because a filling broke out in the back of my mouth. They were accommodating and got me in quickly, and the receptionist was genuinely nice. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. Avoid this place. Between the visibly dirty rooms, outdated equipment, and deceptive billing practices, it is not worth your time or money. The facility is extremely run-down and shares a building with a shady notary office. The treatment room was simply not clean. The walls had visible splatters on them that looked like they had never been wiped down between patients. The equipment is incredibly dated. They still use the painful, old-school X-ray method where you bite down on a sharp piece of plastic and wear a heavy lead vest while the assistant leaves the room. Worse, Dentist Chinar Mahadkar came into the room wearing a visibly filthy splatter guard. I had to explicitly tell her it was disgusting, which prompted her to finally go into the other room, wipe it off, and change her gloves. After cleaning my teeth, the dentist Chinar Mahadkar asked if I wanted fluoride. She explained the benefits and said it was just a disposable tray with cotton candy flavored gel that I would bite down on for four minutes. I have sensitive hearing and listened to every single word she said. At no point did she mention this would cost an extra out-of-pocket fee. When I went to the front desk, the receptionist told me I owed $35 for the fluoride. When I contested it, the back office said they would just mail me a bill for a charge I never agreed to. The dentist then went into her office and lied to the receptionist, claiming she had disclosed the $35 fee to me. I got so angry at the blatant lie that I walked right into the office and confronted the dentist directly. I told her point-blank that at no point did she tell me that the fluoride costs $35. She immediately backpedaled, saying they would waive it and that maybe there was a miscommunication. There was no miscommunication. There was zero communication about the cost because who would agree to pay $35 for four minutes of gel? It felt like a deliberate, routine scam they run on patients. I do not care about the $35, it is entirely about the principle and the dishonesty. It is a shame the incredibly sweet receptionist works in such a crappy environment full of thieves. Do yourself a favor and find a clean honest dentist.

You don’t answer your phones and I don’t understand how this can help the practice generate business.

This is the WORST!!!!!!!!!! Dental office I have gone too in my life! You call when they open, you call in the afternoon, you call in the evening they NEVER answer! They send you to voicemail! Even better, you go in person and you have to sit down and wait because the receptionist went on lunch so theres NO ONE there. I can post a screenshot, i called 10 times one time and no one answered and i ended up going in person and the receptionist was sitting there relaxing. To make matters worse, the office looks like its falling apart. Listen DO NOT waste your time going here. Find some where else I BEG YOU.

If you need dental work this is a great place to go! Since moving to the area, I needed to find a good dentist of course and had to look no farther once I came here! The staff is nice and friendly. And they’re efficient! They know what they’re doing and doing it well; which is nice. I’m still adjusting to the faster pace but never feeling rushed or disregarded when they’ve seen me. Any of my issues they’ve addressed fully and with care. If you need a new dental center and their services you should consider Brooklyn Dental Center! They’re great! 🦷 🪥
