Little Haiti family dental on Flatbush
Smyleee Rating
Good
The Junction Family Dental sits on Flatbush Avenue near the commercial intersection that gives the practice its name, in a section of Flatbush sometimes referred to as Little Haiti for the Caribbean and Haitian-American community that anchors the surrounding residential blocks. The practice handles general dentistry for that local catchment — a regular dental home rather than a specialty-driven referral office, with the routine cleanings and restorative work that anchor multi-year patient relationships.
Cavity treatment is one of the regular visit types. The team uses tooth-colored composite as the default material for most cases, with single-surface fillings, multi-surface restorations on back molars, replacement fillings when older work has failed, and the diagnostic call between filling and crown when tooth structure has been compromised. Beyond fillings, services include cleanings, exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, extractions, gum-disease screening, and emergency dental care. They'll walk through cost options when multiple treatment paths are clinically reasonable, which matters in a community where dental insurance coverage runs thin and out-of-pocket costs need to be planned.
If you've been postponing dental work because you weren't sure what to expect at the visit, a comprehensive new-patient exam here gives you the diagnostic and the treatment-plan review in one appointment so you can make a clear-eyed call.
Patients searching for family dental practice in Brooklyn, family dentist in Brooklyn, or routine dental care in Brooklyn who live in Flatbush, Flatlands, or East Flatbush often choose neighborhood practices over the longer commute to Downtown Brooklyn. The Junction fits that geography. The new-patient appointment typically batches comprehensive X-rays, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan walkthrough before any restorative work is scheduled. For central and southern Brooklyn families picking a regular dental home, this Flatbush Avenue practice is a reasonable first stop. If you've had recent medical changes — new medications, recent surgery, ongoing conditions — flagging them at intake matters more than patients usually expect, since several common drugs interact with routine dental work.
The Junction Family Dental sits on Flatbush Avenue near the Little Haiti commercial corridor, handling cleanings, fillings, and the general dentistry mix for families across Flatlands and Flatbush.

General dentistry at The Junction Family Dental covers routine exams, cleanings, fillings, and decay prevention for families across Flatbush and Flatlands.
Professional dental cleanings remove the plaque and tartar that brushing misses, protecting the gums and helping the dentist catch early decay.
Crowns and bridges restore damaged or missing teeth — a crown caps a weakened tooth, while a bridge spans the gap left by lost teeth.
Root canal treatment clears infection from inside a tooth, relieving pain and saving a natural tooth that would otherwise be lost.
Emergency dental care addresses urgent problems such as a severe toothache, a broken tooth, or a lost filling, with prompt attention to relieve pain.

Honestly, this place is not worth it. I’m almost 100% sure it’s just an insurance grab. I went in for a teeth cleaning, and it lasted maybe two minutes — and that’s me being generous. My teeth didn’t feel clean at all. They scraped for about 30 seconds, barely brushed my teeth, had me rinse with Listerine, and that was the entire visit. It felt extremely unprofessional. There’s no care, no thoroughness, and no real attention to patients. What made it worse was that my treatment plan was handed to me by the receptionist — no dentist ever came to speak with me. They constantly call and blow up your phone to get you in the office, but once you’re there, the service feels rushed and careless. I feel like i’ve been clearly ripped off, and I’m going to contacting my insurance company and 311 needs to step in so others aren’t taken advantage of . Very disappointing experience.
I began visiting this dental office almost two years ago, during my pregnancy, based on a referral from a classmate who spoke highly of their services. After several negative experiences at other dental offices, I was hoping to find a practice that was personable, friendly, and genuinely attentive to patient comfort and concerns. Initially, my experience here was positive. However, that changed during my appointment on May 12th. As a first-time mother experiencing postpartum challenges, I was already under a great deal of stress and urgently needed a cleaning. I arrived early for my appointment and was brought in for X-rays within a reasonable timeframe. Dr. Epstein reviewed the X-rays with me, discussed treatment options, and informed me that the hygienist would be in shortly. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting for over an hour with no updates. During that time, I saw other patients being attended to while I remained unattended. After approaching the receptionist, the hygienist finally entered the room but did not acknowledge the long delay and appeared visibly irritated. During the cleaning attempt, I was positioned uncomfortably low, and water from the instrument sprayed excessively onto my face and eyes. This made me extremely uncomfortable, and I asked for Dr. Epstein. When Dr. Epstein came in, I explained the situation. He apologized and told me they could not complete my cleaning there but offered their Troy Avenue location. I declined because it is too far and I do not have childcare support. I asked if there was another hygienist at the current location, but he informed me there was not. He apologized again and stated that the cleaning would not be billed to my insurance—only the X-rays. I later returned for a fillings appointment but was told upon arrival that I would need to wait an hour due to an emergency patient. With an infant at home, I could not wait that long and canceled the appointment. Months later, when I attempted to have my cleaning done at a different dental office, I discovered that my insurance had been billed for the cleaning I never received. I filed a complaint with my insurer, and they informed me that the office claimed to have no record of agreeing not to submit the charge. This experience has been extremely disappointing. Patients deserve honesty, professionalism, and respect for their time and circumstances. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at this office.
I went to this dentist for a cleaning and I definitely wouldn’t recommend. The thirst to make you pay out of pocket when having Medicaid reach to the sky with them. I waited an hour just from them to tell me what problems they can fix if they run my credit. When I came for a cleaning. Then financial assistance said they don’t do cleaning which why are you a dentist if you don’t do cleaning. Don’t go! On top of that I over heard the lady at the front counter say “ someone was coming back to replace a fill in that falling out”… you been warned
Great experience. Dr Bressler was great. The office staff was wonderful. . The office has been completely renovated. The office looks beautiful. Modern dentistry equipment. Constructive advice: please take down the pictures of candy and gum.
UPDATE 👎🏽- so after everything that happened, I naturally filed a complaint with my insurance. That’s when one of the scammers I’m sorry office managers called me, apologizing, and being sympathetic, even offering me to see another dentist that she recommended at a different location. I obliged because I still need the dental work only to find out that this was part of their plan that they knew that I had filed the grievance and put a fake Phone appointment. She called the week later to cancel the appointment because she had”found out “ - and i check my grievance only to find out that she immediately had called my insurance to tell them that she had tried to reach out and schedule an appointment, but did not tell them that she immediately canceled the appointment. Do not go to these people. They are a bunch of scammers any office affiliated with them. UPDATE -✨ to say that I would give them the benefit of the doubt I was wrong not only were they sending my information to some wrong email. I also had to have healthfirst call them for the fourth time to get it correctly.--and now when it looks like things were finally move along -the root canal and the bridges are now dashed to the side because the insurance has to pay for it -which now they’re telling me the insurance still won’t cover majority of the things that it’s supposed to cover-and suddenly from 10 grand "we can get your teeth fixed "To There’s no reason to do such a thing because he finally look at my x rays after 4 weeks ---is very disappointing very frustrating and downright disrespectful. If this dentist had been honest with me from the beginning, then we could’ve avoided all of this you waited three weeks to tell me from the initial visit that you don’t feel like my teeth were saving even though you fed me a pipe of bridges and root canals-you should made the initiative to call your patient the minute that you felt like something had changed not wait until you found out that you weren’t gonna get paid the 10 grand To say, I was excited because I thought I generally found a dentist that offered sedation and who was patient and willing to help me fix my teeth, and even what i thought was nice receptionists- That also excepted my insurance, Turned out to be such a losing game , I am not surprised by another dentist office that signed up For Medicaid and has decided that Medicaid does not pay them enough and so they need extra money to supplement it, $10,000 and now, instead of this office helping me to submit the paperwork that could possibly help me even with a chance of getting help (even it is rejection )they are choosing to keep my authorizations. This will be the third week that I called them and called my insurance company to be on the phone with them and they refused to send it, keep in mind they first told me around months and my insurance company told me 24 to 48 hours ,I think the worst part is that nearly all the procedures that they want is covered by insurance. I didn’t mind paying out-of-pocket for the sedation. I am currently going back-and-forth with them because This is the second dentist they just want money and they don’t want to take Medicaid-it’s disappointing because Medicaid is an option to most offices. If they don’t like it they don’t have to take it. The truth is it seems like they’re all like this. I would not recommend this place and hope that if they see this message to remove certain insurance that you do not want to work with - Extremely disappointed
