Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, cracks, or trauma. Signs include severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity, and swelling.
What to Expect
Under local anesthesia, your dentist will access the tooth's inner chamber, remove the infected pulp, clean and disinfect the canals, then fill and seal the tooth. A crown is typically placed afterward for protection.
